Bookae Terms of Service
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Bookae is a student-centered platform for college admissions writing and guidance. These terms explain the rules of using Bookae. They are written to be read — if anything is unclear, ask us before continuing.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By creating an account or using Bookae, you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.
2. Accounts and Roles
- Bookae supports two roles: student and counselor. Your role is set at signup and cannot be changed.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
3. Your Content Belongs to You
- You retain full ownership of everything you write or upload to Bookae: journal entries, essays, seeds, profile materials, and any other content.
- Bookae does not claim ownership of your content and does not sell it.
- You grant Bookae a limited license to store, process, and display your content only as needed to operate the service for you — for example, showing your shared entries to a counselor you have explicitly connected with.
- Journal content is private by default. Sharing is always explicit, per entry, and revocable.
4. AI Features
Bookae includes AI-powered features such as writing feedback, admissions-officer-style reviews, and retrieval over your own content.
- AI output is suggestive, not authoritative. It is not professional admissions counseling, legal advice, or a guarantee of any admissions outcome.
- Final decisions about your writing are always yours. AI features never publish, send, or submit anything on your behalf without your explicit action.
- Student-facing AI only uses information that is visible to the student.
- You are responsible for reviewing AI suggestions before using them, and for ensuring that submitted application materials comply with the policies of the institutions you apply to, including their rules about AI assistance.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Misrepresent your identity or your role.
- Access, scrape, or attempt to access another user's private content.
- Use the service to harass, deceive, or harm others.
- Interfere with the service's operation or security.
- Use Bookae to produce content intended to deceive admissions offices about authorship, in violation of institutional policies.
We may suspend accounts that violate these rules, with notice where practical.
6. Counselor Relationships
- A counselor sees student content only within the limits of an active, student-accepted relationship and the student's per-entry sharing choices.
- Counselor notes written inside Bookae are visible to the student.
- Either party may end the relationship; access granted by it ends accordingly.
7. Account Deletion and Termination
- You may permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion removes your journal, essays, profile data, and AI memory, and cannot be undone.
- We may terminate or suspend access for violation of these terms or to protect the service and its users.
8. Service Availability and Changes
- Bookae is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep it reliable, but we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. Keep your own copies of important application materials.
- We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in the product or by email before they take effect. Continued use after that point constitutes acceptance.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bookae and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including admissions outcomes — arising from use of the service. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars if you have paid nothing.
10. Contact
Questions about these terms: reach us through the contact channel listed on bookae.ai.
Student pilot
The student pilot is for high-school students aged 14 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these terms on your behalf. Accounts and writing remain after the pilot; there is no automatic end-of-pilot deletion. Access requires the pilot passcode and verified email. Google login and Spotify connections are unavailable during this pilot.
The first seven days after enrollment include a $20 AI usage allowance; each subsequent seven-day period includes $5, without rollover. This is an internal service allowance, not a bill, payment obligation, or promise of cash value. Background AI tasks also use the allowance. Writing and saving remain available when AI usage is exhausted. Bookae may pause new enrollment or AI processing to protect service reliability.
Bookae operates this service under the name Bookae. Contact bookae.ai@gmail.com. See the Privacy statement and Data retention statement for processing, sharing, consent, and deletion details.
